Shop Review & Swatches: Corvus Cosmetics

Hello everyone!

Today I have my review and swatches on my first purchase from Corvus Cosmetics! Corvus is a fairly new indie makeup shop. Currently, they offer Futurama and Greek Goddess inspired eyeshadows and several styles of pocket mirrors. As far as I know, this is the only full fledged Futurama collection out there. I love anything Greek Mythology so as soon as I saw the art for the pocket mirrors, I caved on my self-imposed no buy and picked up a full sample set of the Mouseia collection and 3(!) of the pocket mirrors. Luckily, I'm very happy with the products I received! No ragrets.

I placed my order on January 18 and got it in the mail on January 30, which was within their stated TAT. The owner Noel was kind enough to combine orders for me and make some substitutions for me which I really appreciate. Customer service goes a long way for me so they get an A+ in my book!

* Disclaimer: All products purchased with my own money unless otherwise stated. Thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. *

Can I just say how gorgeous this packaging is? I immediately got up to take some shots of it when I saw how nicely everything was wrapped. Corvus' shop aesthetic is right up my alley and I'm impressed with Noel's attention to detail.

~Oh hello dog hairs. Anyway, this is the Eratos Pocket Mirror. Each eyeshadow in the Mouseia collection had a matching custom art mirror that corresponded to it. These were designed by Krysteene Hoerner. I absolutely love these. My only wish is that they were available as mirror compacts!

Euterpe pocket mirror.

Urania pocket mirror.

From left to right: Melpomene, Eratos, Clio, Euterpe, Calliope.

Calliope, the Greek muse of epic poetry, is often pictured with a writing tablet. She is considered to be the chief of the muses.

This shade is a shimmery forest green. The formula on these are quite nice. Here I have Calliope bare on the bottom and over Darling Glue's Glitter Glue on the top. As you can see, pigmentation is still really good.

Euterpe, the muse of song, is often depicted with an aulos, which is an ancient musical instrument similar to a flute. She is also considered to be the muse of elegiac poetry.

Euterpe is an off-white beige with a satin finish. Great pigmentation again and a very pretty shade. I can see this being a rather versatile product as it can be used on the lids, as a browbone or inner corner highlight, and even as a cheek highlight. I love the artwork on the matching mirror too.

Clio, the Greek muse of history and lyre playing, is usually pictured with either books or, in some accounts, a lyre.

Clio is a warm molten gold. It reads a bit warmer in real life than it does here. This color would pair beautifully with Calliope.

Erato, the Greek muse of lyric poetry, is usually associated with poetry of the romantic and erotic genre. Her name means "desired" or "lovely", and she is often depicted with a wreath of roses.

Erato is a vibrant maroon with red shimmer. Beautiful shade that fits the description quite well, I think. I want to try this with Shiro's No Men Like Me, I think the pair would look awesome together.

Melpomene, the muse of tragedy, is often depicted with a tragic mask, though she was originally considered the muse of song, which can be seen in her name, meaning "the one that is melodious".

Melpomene is a dark brown with subtle red shimmer.  Another solid shade with great pigmentation. I really like the fact that the shades reflect the stories behind the inspiration.

From left to right: Urania, Polyhymnia, Thalia, Terpsichore.

Terpsichore, the muse of dance, is often depicted with a lyre, accompanying the ballerinas' choirs with her music.
Terpsichore is a light pink with a satin finish. Pretty shade, the color of ballerina shoes. Reminds me a lot of Ten Three Labs Antoinette.

Thalia, the muse of comedy, is often depicted with a comic mask.

Thalia is a satin cool lavender. I was looking forward to this shade most and I wasn't disappointed.  This color is seriously gorgeous. I've been looking for another light purple shade to use on the lid and Thalia fits the bill perfectly.

Polyhymnia, the muse of sacred hymns, is often depicted as being very serious, sometimes with a veil covering her face.

Polyhymnia is a cool pastel blue with a satin finish. Another soft and feminine shade like Thalia.

Urania, the muse of astronomy, is often depicted with a globe and a compass. She is the eldest of the muses, and is often associated with Universal Love and the Holy Spirit.

Urania is a dark blue with gold glitters. The only glitter bomb of the collection. The glitters are quite apparent in real life and catch the light beautifully.

From left to right: Fine Jamaican Bacon, Zero G Jugs, Bite My Shiny Metal ***!

Bite My Shiny Metal ***! is from the Futurama collection and is inspired by the character Bender. This shade is a dark cool toned brown with prominent silver glitter. OMG. I knew it was going to be good but I didn't know how good. It's incredibly pigmented and the silver shimmer often looks blue. I wafted over buying a full size and now I wish I had. This color is super unique to my collection and I highly recommend picking it up!

Zero G Jugs (free sample) is a medium shimmery blue from the Futurama collection.

Fine Jamaican Bacon is a warm brown with copper shimmer. From the Futurama collection. This shade has the most beautiful warm shimmer running through it. Once again, the pigmentation was great.

Final Thoughts: Although Corvus is still relatively small, I see it growing rapidly as they offer great products with a wonderful formula. Every shade I received had a rich, pigmented feel and reminded me quite a lot of Shiro's formula. Between the attention to packaging, customer service, and quality products, I'm very impressed with Corvus. The artwork on the pocket mirrors is just gorgeous and I love having corresponding extras to go with the collection.  I will definitely be picking up some more of the new Poe collection that's coming out. My favorites of the haul were Thalia & Bite My Shiny Metal ***!

Hope you guys enjoyed! Take care till next time.
