Baroque Cosmetics French Revolution Collection Review & Swatches

Today I'm reviewing a new-to-me indie makeup brand, Baroque Cosmetics! Baroque opened in mid-2014 and offers a full line of eyeshadows and blushes. They feature collections inspired by art, history, and video game fandoms. I found the idea of a collection based on the French Revolution intriguing so I decided to pick up the set. This collection is mostly made up of neutrals with a pop of color thrown in there for added interest.

Products were purchased using a blogger discount. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Please view my disclosure policy for more information. Swatches are done half on Urban Decay Primer Potion, half over Darling Girl Cosmetics Glitter Glue.

Dictateur Sanguinaire is a deep blood red with a satin finish. As you can tell, the pigmentation is excellent with and without an adhesive base. Lately I've been finding myself gravitating towards reds so I'm looking forward to trying this one out.

Versailles is a shimmery molten antique gold. Great pigmentation once again. Leans slightly more olive in real life.

The Republic is a medium brown with subtle pink shimmer. This is kind of a standard brown that every brand does so unless you have a need for a shade like this, I'd probably skip it.

Affair Of The Diamonds is a silver with a blue sheen. Very sparkly.

Sun King is a navy blue with gold glitter. This one is like a darker version of Corvus Cosmetics Urania.

Death of Marat is a shimmery oatmeal beige. The website description says this one has blue shimmers but I honestly couldn't really see them. I do really love this shade though. The pigmentation is phenomenal and it's the perfect lid color for me.

National Razor is a gunmetal grey with pink shimmers. This one is my second favorite. I'm not a huge fans of straight up greys because they do nothing for my complexion but the added pink iridescence makes this one fun.

Madame Deficit is an off-white shimmer with pinky undertones. Pretty highlight shade, good pigmentation.

This collection is perfect for neutral lovers. All of the shades, with the exception of Sun King, had good to great pigmentation over just primer. If you happen to be in the market for some solid neutrals, you'll find some really nice ones here. If you prefer wearing color or brights, you may find this collection a bit dull. Baroque's other collections, such as Friends In My Heart or Sovngarde might be more up your alley. I'll have my review of The Friends In My Heart collection up soon to compare!
